In
my youth, Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour was the place to go for fun, family and
fantastic ice cream. Many little league baseball games were followed by a trip
to Farrell’s.
So, it is so sad to say a final farewell to Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour, the
last of which in the world, has closed in Brea, CA. This Farrell’s was located
in the redeveloped downtown area near the Edwards 12 Theaters, so no more
movies then ice cream with the kids.
In January of this year, a Farrell’s a short distance away in Buena Park shared
a similar fate. In addition, in the past few years other Southern California
closures included the cities of Santa Clarita, Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside and
Mission Viejo.
All hope is not entirely lost, however. According to the Mercury News,
“Entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis, host of CNBC’S reality business show ‘The
Profit,’ still owns the brand and concept. In a January interview shortly after
the closure of the Buena Park store, he said he might retool the brand when the
time is right. ‘I’ll hold onto it until I find another opportunity, even a
smaller concept like a quick serve, and trademark it,’ he said. ‘I’ll put it on
the shelf and wait for the right window.’”
Now what does this have to do with Brea SEO? Not a lot
directly other than a loss of a client for the firm that was handling the
search engine optimization for Farrell’s. Indirectly, however, when one
business fails then other are impacted such as the surrounding shops who may
not draw as much foot traffic now that the Farrell’s ice cream extravaganza is
no longer with us.
And this does come at an inopportune time as summer season is upon us and kids
(and adults like me) are all screaming for ice cream!
