It
may sound like SciFi, but SiFi Networks will be installing, by the end of 2019,
a fiber optic network to every home and business inside of Fullerton,
California.
SiFi says they will use “micro-trenching” technology for the fiber optic cable
distribution which will cause minimal disruption.
Fiberplex talks about the traditional way of burying fiberoptic cables versus
micro trenching, “Digging up streets and landscape to trench down four feet or
to set up deep bore pits seems a little excessive. And, climbing up a pole in a
thunderstorm to string across fiber cabling is just plain crazy. But, deploying
fiber cable in a micro-sized trench that’s little more than an inch wide and
less than a foot deep? Now that sounds like a sane idea.”
Say goodbye to AT&T, Spectrum, DirecTV and some of the other Internet
Service Providers that have been delivering Internet, phone and TV to the city.
GigabitNow and Ting have team up with SiFi to be the primary ISP’s for
FiberCity.
According to Smart Cities World, “Customers are able to pre-subscribe to
service now with either Ting or GigabitNow. Pre-subscribers will reportedly
benefit from the best deals; and the first homes will receive service before
the end of the year.”
What does this mean for local businesses and Fullerton SEO?
Lightning fast Internet will connect customers and business owners quicker than
ever. And because site speed is a Google ranking factor, local business
websites serving fast data to local customers over fiber optics will have
that lickety-split factor that customers and Google craves.
Construction of the Fullerton FiberCity network starts in June 2019.
