Google Project Sunroof Connects Home Solar Buyers and Sellers

Google’s Project Sunroof helps consumers who are thinking about buying or leasing rooftop solar panels for their home do a little comparison shopping right inside of Google.

Now this may sound like a stretch, but the search giant already helps Googlers compare airfares and compare rates for home repair projects.

In addition, Google is also heavily invested in solar energy for themselves and on the behalf of others. Several years ago, the Mountain View giant created their Google Green program. To date Google has invested more than $1 billion into solar energy.

The Google Sunroof interface lets a user input information such as home address and average monthly electricity bill. With this and a few more details Google will estimate the total savings of going solar over a 20 year period. You can even input whether you would like to lease, loan or buy and Google will tell you the various costs and savings.

In order to get a good feel for what I am saying a person needs to spend 3 minutes checking out the interface, so please check out my reference links below.
