Google Seeks Remote Temporary Worker

A recruiter called Payrolling.com has placed an ad on Google’s behalf for a temporary remote worker in the U. S. or Canada who is Internet savvy and has multiple language skills. This worker won’t have to commute to the San Jose office and will be engaged in search quality evaluation.

It is a bit interesting that Google would advertise through an agency on a remote site rather than their own as they have many jobs listed on the Google Job Opportunities pages. Perhaps Google is looking for avid web surfers for this position and looking for people who wouldn’t ordinarily look for them.

Just what “search quality evaluation” means is open for speculation. Does this mean hand editing for spam? Or could it mean some sort of manual intervention when it comes to the SERP’s? Or are they looking for high-ranking or low-ranking websites for testing purposes of their algorithms? Right now the intent is hard to tell. I’m sure there will be more to follow on this story.

In other news, I have a client with a nifty little niche website that does cathode ray tube design and develops electron guns, vacuum technology and phase measurement system. It’s worth giving this site a look-see especially if you’re a temporary remote worker that would like a quality niche website as a test site.
