Google has just launched their most recent service of a long line of services this past 6 months and this one gives a weather report for whatever city or zip code is typed in. For instance, typing in Laguna Beach, CA on today, March 7, 2005 gives a 4 day forecast of sunny and bright with highs in the low 70’s and lows in the high 40’s and low 50’s.
With Google’s other recent services such as giving out stock quotes, news headlines and movie info Google Search is turning into Google TV. Perhaps Google Sports is next followed by Google Traffic Report, then Google Cartoons and Google Late Night.
It seems the point of the recent Google offerings is a one-stop shopping and information source so that one never needs leave Google for the enticing offerings of another search engine or search directory or for some a replacement for television.
The once uncluttered and cleanly designed Google interface and search results pages that attracted so many to Google are now starting to gain clutter creep. Perhaps running the new Feng Shui v1.0 clutter clearing software application, enterprise edition will help restore the cleanliness and balance of yesteryear. Or perhaps it will continue to devolve into the online version of Search Engine Fear Factor.
I’m just waiting for college sports to unveil its newest end of the year bowl in Palo Alto, CA, the College Google Bowl which will be broadcast live by Google TV.
