Google Valentine’s Day Update in Progress

Google Valentine's Day Update

According to Search Engine Journal, SEO Roundtable, SEMRush and other sources, a Google Valentine’s Day update is in progress.

According to Search Engine Journal, “There are indications that Google may be updating it’s algorithm. Last week, WebmasterWorld forum members in the UK reported SERP movements. USA members started chiming in this week, particularly today. The search engine results volatility is being noticed in various countries.

“WebmasterWorld reports of updates can be unreliable. Which is why I wait to see it confirmed by the black hat community. Today there is a lively discussion going on confirming that yes, there is dramatic ranking changes going on. I think it’s safe to say a Valentines Day Update is in progress.”

And according to SEO Roundtable, “A week ago we reported on chatters and signals of a Google search ranking algorithm update. That died down a bit shortly after we wrote about it but over the past couple days I am seeing chatter and signals of another Google update. I don’t think this is a super massive update but it might be specifically targeting niches or just a test or something. It is hard to say at this point.”

SEMRush is showing high USA volatility, today, February 13, 2019.

So, like all of Google’s update, it is important not to make any major changes to your website’s SEO in reaction to this update right now. The rollout can take a couple of weeks and after that there is generally another couple week period in which Google tends to fine tune the update. So, in about 4 weeks, we should have a good grasp on what this update is about and what to do (if anything) about it.
