Google Wants You to Share Your Search Results

Google Search Sharing

They tried this with Google + and now it’s back bigger and bolder than ever – shareable search results! Or at least a test. It looks like Google is kicking the tires and giving this a test drive for now.

According to Search Engine Land, “Several people are sharing screenshots on Twitter of a feature in the Google search results that lets you share search results. It has three icons, one to share, one to open the cache page and one to open the result in a new window.”

Now why will SEO’s and other digital marketers care about this?

Sharing search results could impact rankings especially for smaller, local websites. In addition, marketers could use the share feature for email, social media marketing and other marketing efforts which once again could impact rankings.

It remains to be seen how this will play out and when this will rollout but we definitely need to keep an eye on this change.
