Google has bene having an odd problem for many users for some time now – where searches are being shown as ‘Untitled’ as opposed to what they should. These Untitled tags are clickable links, but they are sending users to spam websites that often land on a fake website.
There are even some worries that by sending people to these search results by accident that users could be open to malware attacks. The results have been appearing for some time now, and Google is still working on finding a solution to the problem. However, they have at least admitted the problem exists and have gotten to work on finding a suitable solution to the problem.
Given the strange nature of the issue, though, it might not be solved right away – or anytime soon, really. Now, there is only speculation as to the potential cause for this issue. Some suggest it could come down to compromised websites on the backend, particularly websites developed using popular CRM platform WordPress.
This is bad for users, and it is also bad for Google. It also creates a negative name for those who operate within search engine optimization, as many attribute the problems to malicious or insidious SEO tactics.
While Google has tried to make clear that the issue is more likely related to spam than malware, it is still a more than problematic issue for many users of Google. For that reason, expect some changes to come along soon as Google looks to try and find a solution to what has become an increasingly annoying problem for many users online.
