Covid Surge: Citizens & Businesses in the OC Trying to Survive

We are all in this together

It’s a very scary time in Orange County, CA and all of Southern California as Covid-19 hospitalizations have surged so greatly that local ICU’s have hit maximum capacity.

According to CBS News: “Orange County continued its streak of daily records for COVID-19 hospitalizations on Thursday with 1,519 patients, including 343 in ICU beds. The county’s adjusted ICU bed capacity remains at zero.”

Voice of OC quotes Dr. Clayton Chau as making an emotional plea, “The emergency rooms have no capacity to triage people as quick as they can. We have people who are waiting to be seen when they get to the emergency room … Every day we break the record of the number of people who have [been] infected. So I’m pleading with the community: Please. Please. Do not gather. And make sure you follow the public health guidance.”

Yesterday, the first Covid vaccines were rolled out in small number in Orange County, but it will be months until the impact is felt. Meanwhile, citizens and businesses have to survive this surge in cases.

This is a holiday season like no other. So, stay safe. Take all of the proper precautions. Keep your spirits up and we will ride this out because we’re all in this together.
