During the fourth quarter, Yahoo!’s profits increased 62-percent over the fourth quarter of 2003. This is just another piece of evidence that the search engine wars are heating up. Yahoo! attributes its success to the introduction of more products and the relevancy of its search results.
Google doesn’t seem worried, though, as Larry and Sergey called “Road Trip” this week and sent their 2000-plus employees to the slopes of Lake Tahoe. These 2000+ employees will pack into 5 hotels including the Resort at Squaw Creek, with 404 rooms (404 Error – Hotel Not Found?) at $294 a night.
Well, Google does know how to throw a party. And while the post-IPO employee millionaires are piling cash on their beds and wallowing in it, the Yahoo! and MSN geeks are jealously and deviously are figuring how to wipe those silly slopes off their faces so that this annual Google vacation is actually a Last Hurrah.
The search engine soap opera continues and we will just have to wait and see how it plays out over the next year.
